Advanced Medical Coding Program prepares tudents for careers as billing and coding specialists in physicians' offices, hospitals, insurance companies and outpatient facilities. Students learn the procedure for correctly billing patients, how to retrieve information from patient records and how to match medical record with billing record using the correct coding and reimbursement procedure. This is a one year program, too. Graduates of this program sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders certification exam that leads to the Certified Professional Coder credential.

With an associates of science degree in Health Information Technology could qualify a worker for medical records technician or health information technician.
